A son of Lula, an aggressor

SÃO PAULO (EFE).— The Brazilian Justice imposed precautionary measures on Luís Claudio Lula da Silva, son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, after being denounced by his girlfriend Natália Schincariol for alleged sexist violence, the lawyers confirmed yesterday.

“We inform that precautionary protection measures have been issued in favor of Natália to guarantee her physical and psychological integrity and safety,” Gabriela Sançana and Matheus Cavallini, lawyers for the alleged victim, stated in a note.

According to the state-run Agencia Brasil, the Court of Justice of São Paulo ordered the son of the Brazilian president not to come within 200 meters of his partner and prohibited him from coming into contact with her.

Natália filed the complaint the day before yesterday at a São Paulo Women’s police station, where she declared that she received an elbow from Luís Claudio last January, from which point she says she began to suffer “verbal attacks” and “psychological and moral violence.”

According to her testimony, she only decided to sue now because she had been intimidated by Da Silva due to the position held by his father, according to Agencia Brasil.

Through his lawyer, Luís Claudio Lula da Silva described Natália’s statements attributing “false attacks” to her the day before yesterday as “fantastical.”

“These lies fall within the crimes of slander, slander and defamation, in addition to being able to respond for compensation for moral damages, reasons for which we will take the pertinent legal measures,” said lawyer Carmen Silvia Tannuri.

The defense of Natália Schincariol, a doctor by profession, reaffirmed that her client was a victim of “attacks of the most varied forms” and stressed her confidence in Justice so that “the truth prevails” in the case, which is being processed under summary secrecy.

“His decision not to suffer in silence is a testament to his firmness and determination in pursuit of justice,” he said.

Luís Claudio Lula da Silva is 39 years old, a businessman and the youngest son of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who governed the country between 2003 and 2010 and returned to power for a third term on January 1, 2023.
