A specific consumer credit offer for temporary workers

Being a temporary worker does not always allow you to have access to bank credit. This is even rarely the case, as this status may seem unreliable in the long run for many banks. The latter rely more on customer profiles on permanent contracts and/or with recurring income. However, the situation began to change on January 1, reports The Parisian.

2.5 million temporary employees in France

A specific consumer credit service was set up after the signature of a partnership between BNP Paribas Personal Finance and the Social Action Fund for Temporary Work (FASTT). The latter represents all the players in the sector. The offer potentially concerns some 2.5 million temporary employees in France, including the 750,000 people currently on assignment within a company.

Certain credits with specific pricing are offered to these customers. “The Fastt knows these temporary workers and can provide us with elements that we do not know, such as the number of hours worked”, explained the head of the personal financing branch. Thus, these temporary workers will be able to take out personal loans of 500 to 15,000 euros, granted for specific projects, related to mobility or the performance of work, for example.

An advantageous interest rate

To be able to contract these credits, you must have worked at least three months out of the 12 preceding the request. This must be done online on the Fastt website and will then be studied by one of the 25 specialist advisers. In the event of validation, borrowers are offered “better positioned rates, of 5.19% whatever the tranche of the amount, instead of 7.91% for traditional customers”, detailed Isabelle Guittard-Losay, director institutional relations and head of engagement at BNP Paribas Personal Finance France.

Since the launch of the system, 650 files have received a green light and more than 5 million euros have been lent. On average, 6,400 euros over 40 months are borrowed by each temporary beneficiary, mainly for the purchase of a vehicle. However, candidates must present a solid file, not be registered with the Banque de France or be in a difficult financial situation.
