The Léman 2030 program aims to double the capacity of the Lausanne-Geneva line by 2035. With this in mind, CFF is investigating a third rail line between the municipalities of Morges and Lonay (VD), on a section of 2.5 km. This new infrastructure will increase the capacity of the Lausanne-Geneva line and remove a bottleneck around the Lausanne-Triage station. Some 16 additional switches will also be installed.

The work of this third track involves the reconstruction of the stations of Lonay-Préverenges (VD) and Morges-St-Jean (VD). The line’s technical and rail installations will also be modernized (some in the town of Denges). Solutions have been found to carry out this project without demolition of residential buildings.

The work should begin in 2024, and end in 2031. The amount amounts to 150 million francs. The project put to the public inquiry can be consulted in the municipalities of Morges, Denges and Lonay from Monday for a period of 30 days.
