A stranded ship obstructs the Seaway at the Sainte-Catherine lock

A stranded ship was hampering trade on the St. Lawrence Seaway downstream from the Sainte-Catherine lock on the South Shore of Montreal on Sunday.

The “Patagonman”, a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Singapore, found itself askew in the morning in the waterway, a few tens of meters from the lock.

Rescue ships came to its aid to try to dislodge it from its unfortunate position, but had not obtained the hoped-for success by mid-followingnoon.

During this time, two other vessels – a cargo ship and an oil tanker – were forced to wait near the lock, show the records of the specialized site Marine Traffic.
