A strange statement by a British minister about fighting Russia in Ukraine

Amidst tension between Moscow and the West due to the military operation launched by Russia on UkraineBritish Foreign Secretary Liz Truss came out with a surprising and strange statement.

The Trust announced, in statements to the BBC, on Sunday, that it would support the British who want to go to Ukraine to join the fight against the Russians.

For the whole of Europe

She also added that she supports Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call for the formation of an international resistance force from abroad.

She also emphasized that “the people of Ukraine are fighting for freedom and democracy, not just for the sake of Ukraine But for the whole of Europe.”

When asked if that would include Britons wanting to help by joining the fight, she replied: “Sure, if that’s what they want.”

On the other hand, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, in an interview with the British “Sky News” on Monday, advised his citizens not to go to Ukraine to fight, in clear contradiction to what Liz Truss announced.

Foreign ‘international’ corps

These statements come after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that his country would establish a foreign “international” corps of volunteers from abroad.

“This will be the main evidence of your support for our country,” he said in a statement.

It is noteworthy that the Russian military operation, which was launched at the dawn of the current February 24 on the Ukrainian territory, was suspended on Friday for a period in the hope of negotiation, but it returned and resumed in all directions at a later time.

The relationship between the two countries witnessed unprecedented tension during the past months, which increased after Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized two separatist regions in eastern Ukraine in the Donbas region, before launching a large-scale military operation targeting several Ukrainian cities, including the capital, Kyiv.
