The University of Laval, in Quebec, in collaboration with the University of Montpellier, is launching a study on hearing aids from the patient’s point of view. It is entitled “Effects of professional services received during hearing aid fitting on adoption, use and satisfaction with hearing aids and on social participation and quality of life for adults with hearing loss”.

The aim of this study is several. First, the aim is to evaluate the rate of adoption, use and satisfaction with hearing aids of people fitted with hearing aids in Quebec and France, and to compare the data for the two areas. Other objectives: to evaluate satisfaction with the services provided by hearing care professionals and to identify the services that influence the rate of adoption, use or satisfaction. Finally, the study will evaluate the effect of the unit on social life.

For this, the team of Professor Mathieu Hotton, Quebec researcher, with the audiologist François Bergeron, and that of Professors Frédéric Venail and Jean-Charles Ceccato, wrote a questionnaire (available here until 30 June) intended for people with hearing impairments, hearing aids or not, as well as people with normal hearing.
