From the balustrade of the English Garden, the picture is really boat. It is in a postcard setting that the Geneva Marathon got back on the road after three years of eclipse. Summer to starboard, happiness on the Mont-Blanc bridge, people on the balcony and the blushing terraces. Yes, the sun has come back, hitting a little too hard.

For this long-awaited recovery, no icy breeze as in 2019, but the dodger, which melted the pelotons (especially that of the half-marathon) and sweat the Samaritans, called in increased numbers. In swimming, the organizers are relieved. “If a hundred participants finished their pensum under the sanitary tent, victims for the most part of heatstroke or sores, four had to be hospitalized for hyperthermia and cardiovascular arrest. But here, everything is under control. Given the weather conditions, we’re doing pretty well,” says Jean-Marc Guinchard, president of the Geneva Marathon association.
