A surprise in Haaland’s contract with City

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland intends to repeat what he did with Borussia Dortmund regarding the terms of the contract, when signing with Manchester City In the coming days.

Haaland has not signed for City yet, as negotiations are still ongoing between him and the management of the English club, despite the official announcement that the latter has reached an agreement with Dortmund regarding his inclusion.

And “Bild” newspaper revealed a surprise about the Norwegian striker’s expected contract with the Premier League champion, as the player wants to set a penalty clause, as was the case with Dortmund.

She referred to the Norwegian international’s requirement to set a penalty clause of 150 million euros, to be activated before the third year of it in the contract, which is expected to extend until 2027.

This is similar to the 21-year-old’s contract with Dortmund, which he signed in December 2019, which stipulated the possibility of his departure for 60 million euros by the summer of 2022.

This clause contributed to facilitating the City’s completion of the Haaland deal with Dortmund, after he informed the latter of his intention to pay the value of the penalty clause to contract with the young scorer.
