Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–If you think turtles are just cute sea creatures, you are wrong, because they are also known for their strong will and self-reliance to overcome the challenges they face in their daily lives.
This was evident in a video filmed by Sherry Geldusev on Heron Island, in Queensland, Australia.
Upon leaving the nest, the tortoise scrambled to reach the shore.
But luck was not on her side.
On its way to the water, the turtle flipped over its shell, something that can sometimes happen. Finally, she was able to gather her strength without any human intervention to get back on her feet again.
Geldusev has been practicing wildlife photography for about 3 years.
While she tends to spot wildlife, she also enjoys doing underwater photography, specifically taking pictures of turtles and sharks.
It is important for people to be aware of the types of challenges that sea turtles face, but also of their strength and resilience.
“If you can get people to empathize with baby turtles, maybe we can get them to take action to protect our seas and marine life,” the Australian photographer said, during an interview with CNN in Arabic.
The photography experience is not without challenges, most notably the speed of movement of these large turtles, which makes it difficult to take pictures of them.
“We don’t want to intimidate her or block her path, so it’s important to keep a safe distance,” she said.
The video clip received various reactions from Gildosev’s followers.
In fact, some people were angry that the Australian photographer did not help this little turtle.
But it does not need any human intervention.
And most people were very happy to see her succeed by helping herself.
Geldusev’s goal is to post beautiful images of turtles and sea creatures, while raising people’s awareness of the struggles the animals face.
She now plans to continue working on Wilson Island and taking up photography, with turtle nesting season approaching in October.
