A tweet about refugees that had been published by the Lebanese singer Elissa sparked a crisis between her and the Syrian artist, Asala.

In a tweet on her Twitter account, Elissa called for the return of refugees to their homelands, justifying her request that it stems from “love”, and therefore she hopes that everyone will return to their homeland.

The Lebanese artist’s tweet came after she adopted several tweets by retweeting them on her account, calling for the return of the Syrians and Palestinians to their lands.

After criticism, she stressed that “her love for her country and its interest is above everything for her.”

She commented, “My love for my country and the interest of my country is a matter of pride. I have not disrespected any people in my life, so how would the Arab people rather not belong to me? I don’t think it would be easy for someone to demand their return to their homeland, because the homeland of man is his dignity. Because I love you and I wish that you all return to your homelands.” .

Soon, the Syrian artist, Asala, responded to Elisa’s tweet, saying that “people on the ground are among the refugees, and that they are visitors to it,” stressing the need for “solidarity and unity,” instead of thinking in a “partial” way, as she put it.

And she wrote in her tweet, via her Twitter account: “We are all refugees on earth, and no one owns any place in any land. We are all visitors, no matter how long our visit is. And what is available today is tomorrow, we will not know if it is possible. It is enough to divide us. Our solution is once and unite.”

And Asala followed her tweet with another tweet, in an attempt to stress Elisa’s position with her, and that she did not intend to criticize her, as she confirmed that what happened was just a “difference of opinion, and that it does not spoil the cause of friendliness.”

But Elissa sent a tweet later, denouncing her criticism, pointing out that people only care about focusing on the error, and canceling everything else beautiful: “The truth is strange, many people!!! My problem is Bonne nuit”.

Elissa did not clarify whether she meant Asala or her critics.
