Hayley Peel, a 36-year-old Briton, was a week away from saying yes to the love of her life, Darren, when the bad news arrived. The young woman had however planned everything, a year and a half in advance. But the fairy tale quickly turned into a nightmare, when Hayley learned, 11 days before the wedding, that the venue where the reception was to take place was closing.
Hayley’s wedding at her dream location was scheduled for June 17. But on the 6th, she is told that her wedding venue is closing, and that she must find another. Huge disappointment therefore for the young woman, who became hysterical and began to cry.
The original venue, “Petit Delight,” immediately refunded Hayley and Darren. “It is with great sadness that we will be closing with immediate effect,” the venue announced to the bride and groom. The reason for the reported closure is “the current economic climate”. Hayley therefore found herself, 11 days before her wedding, without a reception venue.
“The Tuesday before my wedding, I received a phone call from ‘Petit Delight’, just as I was going to work. The manager said to me, ‘Hayley, I think you should sit down. And he told me that the establishment was going to close with immediate effect and that they could not organize my wedding reception, ”explains the thirty-something. “I was in total hysteria, I kept crying, just thinking ‘oh my God, what am I going to do?’ It was a nightmare, for this to happen for a week and a few days before our wedding,” she adds.
Fortunately, the couple got their money back immediately. “We were very lucky to get our money back, they sent it to us within the hour,” says Hayley. But while the young woman was moping, a friend of hers took matters into her own hands and contacted every reception venue imaginable. And luckily, a place has become available for D-Day! “Millfields came to my rescue. They were absolutely amazing, and all my friends went out of their way to get me a car,” says Hayley. It is therefore at Millfields that the two lovebirds were able to say yes.
Although it’s not at all what Hayley had imagined, it all ended well for her and her husband.
