A woman is the victim of the first murder of the year in Montreal

A woman has become Montreal’s first murder victim of the year. His lifeless body bearing obvious marks of violence was found Wednesday morning in a residential building in the Center-Sud district.

Montreal police confirmed in the middle of the afternoon that they were now investigating a murder. The case was previously treated as a suspicious death.

The investigation has been transferred to major crime investigators.

An “important witness” was met by the investigators during the afternoon. This is a man who faces no charges at this time.

Authorities said they received a 911 call around 7:20 a.m. from someone who wanted officers to “check on a person’s health” at an apartment building on Fullum Street, between De Rouen and Hochelaga streets.

When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of the woman, whose age was not specified. The police noticed visible marks of violence on the body.

A security perimeter was immediately erected to protect the premises.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians went to the scene in the morning to examine the scene and try to understand what happened.

This is already the third woman killed in the province since the beginning of the year.

On January 12, Nadine Flora Alinanyinyi, a 31-year-old Cameroonian immigrant, was murdered in her home in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. She would have been stabbed to death.

A few days later, the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a residence in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The 45-year-old woman was allegedly killed by the man and the latter then took his own life.
