A woman who has been missing since 1980 has been found

A woman who went missing in 1980 in Ottawa has finally been found, 40 years later, police confirmed Wednesday.

Dale Nancy Wyman was last seen July 16, 1980 after leaving the family residence on Washington Avenue in Vanier. She was then 22 years old.

In May 2021, the police released anticipated composite portraits and a video message from his family.

“Recently someone stumbled across this post and got in touch with Dale’s family to let them know. [qu’elle] had lived abroad all this time and that she had recently passed away,” the Ottawa Police Service said in a statement Wednesday.

“The family and the Ottawa Police would like to thank everyone who assisted in closing this file,” said Constable Linda Nethercott of the Ottawa Police Missing Persons Unit.

“The family has been waiting for this news for more than forty years,” she added, recalling that it is never too late to give information to the police.

“Unsolved cases are never closed, and families wait for news no matter how much time has passed.”

According to the “Toronto Star”, the woman who informed the police lived in Ohio. She recognized Dale Nancy Wyman who lived in the same state.

The missing woman grew up with an abusive father, before finally deciding to leave Canada.

Private investigator Linda Davidson told the Toronto daily that Wyman was a reserved woman and that her loved ones asked to grieve in private.
