Among the various AI functions of the Galaxy S24, the highlight is by far the real-time call interpretation. The Galaxy S24 supports 13 languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and Japanese. This is a function where when a user speaks in their native language, it is interpreted and delivered in a specific language regardless of the other person’s smartphone model. Conversely, if the other person speaks in the other person’s language, it is communicated to the user in real time in the user’s native language. This means that there is no need for an interpreter.
When I actually made a call, a tab called ‘Call Assist’ appeared, and when I clicked on it, a screen appeared allowing me to select the other person’s language and my language. As soon as I spoke in Korean, the translation started in English in less than a second. When the other person answered in English, this was also translated into Korean in real time. This function is possible regardless of the other person’s existing smartphone. Additionally, this feature can be used in face-to-face conversations rather than phone calls.
Above all, the speed of interpretation was impressive. As soon as the conversation ends, the interpretation begins immediately. A Samsung Electronics official said, “Because the AI built into the smartphone performs this function, it does not go through the cloud and provides it at a faster speed. ◇Search innovation, ‘Circle to Search’
Samsung Electronics introduced the ‘Circle to Search’ function, a search function installed in the Galaxy S24, as a groundbreaking feature that will fundamentally change the existing search method. If you have questions on any screen, such as photo albums, social media, or YouTube, you can search without opening a separate search app. Just press and hold the home button and draw a circle.
While looking at photos taken during a business trip to Las Vegas, USA, I became curious about the information on a specific building in the background. When you press and hold the home button, the ‘Circle to Search’ function is activated, and when you draw a circle on the screen, a search is performed immediately. The name of the building in question, Treasure Island Hotel, was immediately searched, and lodging fees were also immediately searched.
This function seemed useful when you were curious about the brand of a passerby’s bag or shoes while walking down the street. This is because you can take a photo and search it right away. In addition, if you have a question about an image or text while using social media such as Facebook or Instagram, you can search immediately without opening a separate search app, which is a convenient feature.

◇Professional photo editing is also ‘quick’
AI was also applied to the photo editing function. In any photo, you can freely move the subject in the photo and adjust its size with a single touch. If the subject is moved, AI recognizes the surrounding environment and fills in the existing space discreetly.
I edited a photo taken with the Sydney Opera House in Australia in the background. It took less than a second to ‘press’ the reporter’s image once with a finger and naturally move it to the desired location in the photo. Editing was done to make it look like a river flowing naturally in the place where the subject was moved, as if nothing had originally been there.
It was also impressive to see a diamond-shaped ‘watermark’ at the bottom of the photo, indicating that it had been edited with generative AI. A Samsung Electronics official said, “We have made it possible for anyone to easily confirm that the image in question was created or edited by AI,” and “We prevent unnecessary controversy in advance.”
In addition, it also supports a function to easily play back recorded videos in slow motion. Previously, this function could only be used for videos that were separately ‘filmed’ in slow motion. However, now, if you want to watch any video ‘slowly’, you can play it in natural 4x slow motion just by pressing the subject with your finger. For example, if you want to see the shape of the dog’s feet in detail in a video of a dog running around, you can press ‘firmly’ on the dog’s body and the video will play slowly.
