A young girl hospitalized after being beaten up near a school in Flanders: “It’s completely disproportionate”

A young girl was beaten up on Monday afternoon near a secondary school in Beveren (East Flanders). She had to be hospitalized urgently, indicates our colleagues from the Dutch-speaking daily The last news. An investigation has been opened, announced the Waasland-Beveren police area.

The images shared on social networks are shocking. We see the relentlessness of the protagonists, mostly girls aged between 14 and 16, and the inaction of several people present on the scene. After suffering several blows, a young girl was seriously injured, particularly in the face. The victim, deeply marked by the events, was able to return to his home.

The director of the establishment, interviewed by The last newsdid not hide his anger: “It’s completely disproportionate”, she castigates. The students identified in the images, who are part of the Royal Athenaeum in Beveren, have been suspended pending the conclusions of the internal investigation. “Spectators, who prefer to film with their smartphone rather than intervene, will also be accountable”, she added.

The Waasland-Beveren police zone has therefore also opened an investigation, in collaboration with the prosecutor’s offices of East Flanders and Antwerp, specifies Het Laatste Nieuws.
