A adolescent from the province of Misiones who is in her fifth year at a technical school and is promoting a project to lower the misinformation barrier, was chosen this Wednesday, August 30, among the ten finalists for the Global Student Prize 2023, within the framework of the third edition of the international event that recognizes the merits of different students from around the world. It’s about the first Argentine woman to receive this distinction.
His name is Victoria Rojasis 17 years old and is from Posadas, the capital of Missionswhere he currently works as student of the San Arnoldo Janssen Polytechnic Institutethe agency reported telam.
The teenager surprised the educative community after being selected as a finalist among a large group of almost 4,000 applications from 122 countries. This is the prize launched by Chegg.org in partnership with the Varkey Foundation, whose winner will receive $100,000 for their academic brilliance.
The Argentine finalist spoke with the news agency telam and defined his meritorious selection as “a great joy for Argentina”. During the month of July, she had already been included in the list of 50 finalists for the Global Student Prize 2023.
“I feel that it is a great joy for Argentina that it is among the ten selected. As it happened last July, when the 50 finalists from all over the world were known and opportunities opened up, this is a new stage that we are going to pass, so I am grateful for what is happening and excited about everything to come“Victoria said in statements given to telam.
Among the orientations offered by the school where Victoria is being trained, the young woman leaned towards that of Master Construction Master.

It is not necessary to have a degree to start changing our environment and reality, with what we have and can. With the union and the effort we can achieve a lot of things. I also have the honor of being the first Argentine woman selected for the award and I am certain that I will not be the last,” said the student born in Posadas.
“I found out that I had been selected at school, where my parents, classmates and teachers They made me a very nice surprise with posters and balloons to tell me the news. It was a great joy for the whole school,” Victoria described.
In accordance with telam, the organization that rewards young students not only evaluates their formal educational activity, but also their extracurricular ones. In this sense, the 17-year-old adolescent participates in turn in two large spaces: Innovaty, a national organization that she founded in February of this year and that “is growing a lot thanks to the support of many people”, according to the young woman; and the other is Model United Nations and student representation.

At the age of 9 Victoria promoted ‘GuVic’, together with a companion, whose objective was create stories for children.
Later he participated in the School of Robotics with a project to improve the quality of sleep through a pillow with different functions.
At the age of 12 he was part of the science team Infinite to discoverwith a research project called “the world in a drop”, whose object of study was the ecosystems of local rivers.
At the age of 15, she gave her first speech in the Youth Parliament and would later be selected to participate in the program “Young Ambassadors 2022”a civic engagement-focused leadership development initiative of the US Embassy.
This year, the teenager launched “INNOVATY” (innovation + “aty”, which means “team” in Guarani), under the slogan “Mavericks innovating in community”, a project for which he was nominated for the award and for which some 50 people collaborate at a national level between volunteers, advisors, and adult mentors, in eleven provinces of the country.
Said initiative has “only been six months in the making!”, Victoria pointed out to telam.
It is a network of young people who gather previous experiences as instances of the United Nations Model, which intends to promote transforming agents and whose goals are lower the barrier of misinformationwith the ability to use the synergy of contacts and combine it with the energy and innovation of young people.
“There are many kids who want to improve their environment and don’t know how to. We want to publicize these opportunities and accompany them in the process,” explained the young student.
This is how programs such as “the project incubator” began to take shape.
In case of winning the award, Victoria anticipated that they will seek more mentoring and professional guidance for the management of economic resources. She also plans to develop more face-to-face programs and set aside a fund for her creative project incubator.
