AAWireless is expanding its hardware portfolio beyond wireless Android Auto dongles by launching the AAWireless Charge, a 25W active-cooled Qi2 car charger priced at $50, 9to5google.com reported this week.

Inside the 25W Active-Cooled Build

The newly announced AAWireless Charge delivers up to 25W wireless charging speeds for compatible devices. The unit incorporates active cooling support via a built-in fan that the company describes as quiet during operation. Users can mount the device using either the included air vent mount or the adhesive base supplied in the box.

Qi2 Compatibility and Power Requirements

For smartphones supporting Qi2 standards that lack built-in magnets or compatible magnetic cases, the package includes two magnetic ring adapters. The system maintains compatibility with MagSafe, Pixelsnap, and general Qi2 accessories. Power delivery recommendations from the manufacturer suggest utilizing the vehicle’s 12V outlet with an included adapter to achieve optimal performance, though standard USB-C connections are acceptable provided they supply sufficient wattage.

Standalone Design and Purchasing Channels

Despite the brand name, the physical charging unit lacks an integrated wireless Android Auto or CarPlay adapter. Drivers wishing to maintain wireless smartphone projection must pair the charging mount with a separate standalone AAWireless dongle.

While the company’s established vehicle adapters remain available through major online retailers like Amazon, the new AAWireless Charge is sold exclusively via the manufacturer’s direct web storefront, according to 9to5google.com.

Wi-Fi Handshake Protocols and Troubleshooting

Establishing connections with the company’s adapter relies on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The hardware utilizes Bluetooth solely to transfer initial Wi-Fi credentials to the smartphone before severing that connection to run exclusively over a 5GHz or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band, as outlined in technical documentation provided directly by AAWireless. When pairing encounters interference, troubleshooting protocols require clearing cached data within the Android Auto application and manually forgetting designated SSIDs.
