The two ministers reviewed various aspects of their bilateral cooperation, including economics, trade, investment, renewable energy, and food security. They emphasized the strength of their countries’ relations, which began in 1975 and were solidified with the announcement of their strategic partnership in 2020. The ministers also discussed international climate change efforts and preparations for the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) hosted by the UAE later that year. Sheikh Abdullah praised the developmental advancements that their strategic partnership brought, while Dendias welcomed the visit and emphasized its importance for enhancing cooperation between the two countries. ATHENS, 3rd April, WAM/ H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Nikos Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, discussed friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, which was held within the framework of His Highness’ working visit to Greece, the two sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance it in several areas, including economic, trade, investment, development, renewable energy and food security.

His Highness and His Excellency the Greek Foreign Minister affirmed the depth and solidity of the bilateral relations between the two countries, which began in 1975 and witnessed continuous development over the decades, and were strengthened with the announcement of the strategic partnership between the two countries in 2020.

The two sides also reviewed a number of files of common interest, including international efforts to combat climate change and the UAE’s preparations to host the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) this year.

His Highness and the Greek Foreign Minister discussed the situation in the region and efforts to achieve security and stability in it, and exchanged views on regional and global developments.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the tangible developmental achievements the two countries have made in various sectors as a result of their well-established strategic partnership.

For his part, His Excellency Nikos Dendias welcomed His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation, stressing the importance of this visit, which constitutes a strong impetus for the relations of cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields within the framework of their strategic partnership.

The meeting was attended by Omar Saif Ghobash, Assistant Minister for Cultural Affairs and Public Diplomacy, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Sulaiman Hamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Ambassador to Greece.
