Abinader swore in cabinet members.
Santo Domingo, Apr 25.- President Luis Abinader has created this Tuesday a decentralization cabinet that will “strengthen” the skills, professionalization and resources in local governments, so that the “well-being” of the citizenry is managed “from closeness”. .
A statement from Palacio reports that Abinader swore in the members of the cabinet, which has the purpose of strengthening the response capacity of the State in the territories and impacting the quality of life of Dominican families.
The Decentralization Cabinet was created in compliance with article 204 of the Constitution, which promotes the transfer of powers and resources to local governments, including a municipal land titling program arranged through the Dominican Municipal League.
«The families that for generations have been tenants of municipal lots (…) will be owners or proprietors of the same. Their claims, forgotten for decades, are going to be resolved”, under said titling program, assured the ruler.
Likewise, he highlighted that for this year 2,000 million pesos have already been transferred to the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), 1,500 of them for the start of an asphalting program that is in the bidding process, and 500 million to continue “strengthening » and «promoting» the infrastructure construction program and needs of local governments.
The Decentralization Cabinet will be made up, among others, by the Minister of Public Administration, Darío Castillo; the president of the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), Víctor D’Aza, the legal consultant of the Executive Power, Antoliano Peralta; the director of Ethics and Government Integrity, Milagros Ortiz Bosch, and the executive vice-president of the Institutionality and Justice Foundation, Servio Tulio Castaños.EFE
