Depending on an individual’s history, environment and culture, having a job does not have the same meaning or the same function and does not raise the same issues. “The words work, work, worker are specific to our language and appeared during the evolution of our society at a certain time, with a certain meaning. (…) It is therefore a set of words and ideas which belong to a culture and to an era and which are ethnocentric, ethnocentric”writes the anthropologist M. Godelier (1).
I work as an occupational therapist in a day hospital (HDJ) with a pre-professional therapeutic workshop (see box). We welcome adults suffering from mental disorders, and who wish to (re)integrate professionally. The team accompanies patients in various production workshops and helps them develop their project.
