Season after season, wildlife documentarian Marco Andreini films the wolf in its natural habitat, in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park, in central Italy.
In the 1970s, the Italian peninsula was home to only around a hundred wolves, which had become nocturnal animals and had taken refuge in the Apennines to survive. If the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, located about a hundred kilometers southeast of Rome, was not created – in 1923 – to protect them, it nevertheless played an essential role in perpetuating them. of the species, then considered harmful. In recent years, the wolf population has gradually increased there and it is not uncommon to see them in broad daylight along the trails.
