Abu Dhabi toughenes red signal for violating red signal

Abu Dhabi: A person violating the red signal will have to pay Dh5,000 (Rs 10.46 lakh) for violating the law. The penalty is Dh1,000, 12 black points, confiscation of the vehicle for 30 days and revocation of the license for 6 months, but an additional Dh50,000 is required to recover the impounded vehicle.

If not returned within 3 months, the vehicle will be auctioned off. The police reminded that the punishment has been increased as part of reducing the number of offenses and accidents and driving in compliance with the law.
