(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Seong-jo = The director and social worker of a child care facility who took care of children were sentenced to fines and imprisonment for abuse and abusive language toward their students.

The 2nd part of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Min Yu-suk) was indicted on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes, etc. and the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (threat of retaliation), etc. It was announced on the 26th that the lower court sentenced them to a fine of 3 million won and 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation, respectively.

The childcare facility was also sentenced to a fine of 7 million won in accordance with the punishment regulations.

Director A and social worker B were accused of swearing and threatening children in facilities between July and November 2019.

According to the court, Mr. A was admonished while standing outside the building barefoot on the grounds that a five-year-old girl, a student, did not respond well to him.

Mr. B also committed emotional abuse, such as saying, “I will kill you and commit suicide” when the victim made a statement against him at the police after swearing by a 14-year-old male student saying he didn’t say hello.

The first trial pleaded guilty to the two men’s abuse and sentenced them to a fine and imprisonment.

The second trial and the Supreme Court also found that there was no problem with the judgment of the first trial, and maintained the sentence as it was.
