Can the slowdown in private real estate activity make it possible to accelerate public projects? The question is worth asking, admits the Ministry of Housing, in response to Lénk MP Nathalie Oberweis. But he also assures that “everything has been done” for 5 years to accelerate the production of affordable housing.

According to ministry data, the National Cheap Housing Company increased between 2018 and 2022 from 94 to 146 full-time equivalent dedicated staff, while the related turnover increased by 88% (from 59 million euros to 111 million). For the Housing Fund, construction expenditure increased over the period by 60%, or even 130% including land acquisitions. Staff increased by 80% (87 to 157).

SNHBM and FDL currently have 15 large-scale projects to be completed by 2042, representing more than 5,000 housing units with a state commitment of more than 2 billion euros.
