Accident during train shunting; Employee’s leg amputated in Thampanoor

Thiruvananthapuram: A railway employee lost his leg in an accident during a train shunting at Thampanoor. The accident took place while transferring to Netravati Express Yard. Senior Section Engineer Ram Shankar’s leg was amputated.

The incident took place at around 7.30 pm. Ram Shankar and Apprentice Mithun were present during the train change. The two were involved in an accident while the train was moving. The loco pilot stopped the train when he saw Ram Shankar raising his hand. Both victims were rushed to hospital. It is learned that Ram Shankar’s condition is critical.
