Accident in Saguenay: 7 hours before an investigator shows up

Due to staff shortages, it took seven hours for an investigator to show up at the scene of an accident that left a seriously injured person on Friday morning on Coulombe Road in Shipshaw, Saguenay.

The exact causes of the collision were not yet clear at the time of this writing on Friday followingnoon, but the most plausible hypothesis according to the police is that the car ended up momentarily in the opposite lane, at the exit with a pronounced curve.

The Saguenay police no longer have a reconstructionist in their ranks, but accident scene investigators. In some cases, in the absence of a specific emergency, the waiting period may be longer. At the end of the morning, the police were still looking.

Residents of the area note that drivers often drive at excessive speed. The accident happened on a curve that residents consider to be problematic.

“It’s a badly made road,” says Solange Côté, who lives in the area. “It’s not surprising that there are so many accidents!”

“The speed limit is 90 on one section, 80 on another…People are driving way too fast!” she exclaims.

The Coulombe road should reopen to traffic in the early evening.
