Accident on the river in Ho Chi Minh City, 2 container ships collided with heavy damage

On the morning of February 11, on the Long Tau river route, Can Gio district (HCMC), two container ships collided with each other, causing heavy damage.

Around 5 am on 11/2, at coordinates 10’35.0488B; 106’50.9804D Long Tau river route, An Hoa hamlet, Tam Thon Hiep commune (Can Gio district), a container ship (WAN HAI 288) moving from downstream towards Saigon Port, collided with a container ship. RESURGENCE, move in the opposite direction to Vung Tau beach.

The accident caused the ship RESURGENCE to dent its nose, the WAN HAI 288 ship to have a tear on the port side, and some containers were torn. Luckily there were no human casualties.

After the accident, the competent forces of Ho Chi Minh City were present to handle the scene and investigate the cause.

Currently, the ship WAN HAI 288 is anchored at the scene, while the vessel RESURGENCE has been towed to Saigon Port.

The Port Authority of Ho Chi Minh City is handling the investigation of this maritime traffic accident.
