Many people nicknamed it “Dingdong, Dingdong” since childhood! Due to the company’s name change, “Dingdong Passenger Transport” will officially enter the history; in August, the mountain line Dingdong was renamed “East Taiwan Passenger Transport”, and the sea line Dingdong returned to the name of “Xingdong Passenger Transport”.
The operation area of Dingdong Passenger Transport Mountain Line announced the news on Facebook, and also detailed the story of the three generations of Dingdong Passenger Transport. The founder of the company, Shi Shuibo, established “Anrong Passenger Transport” in 1969, and initially mainly served Yuli and Chenggong areas. After Shi Menghong, the second-generation person in charge, officially took over in 1974, he was at a standoff with the then “Xingdong Passenger Transport” because of the operation route. Later, the two companies were forced to merge at the request of the Taiwan Provincial Government’s Transportation Department, and they were officially established in 1976. “Dingdong Passenger Transport”.

However, in the early stage of the merger, due to the different business philosophy of the two parties, the company could not operate normally. Later, it was decided to separate the two operating areas of the mountain line and the sea line for independent operation, and set up a management office for the common affairs of the second operating area of the prime minister. nearly half a century. However, the two camps, which hold 50/50 shares of the company respectively, have no right to supervise each other, but they must take responsibility for each other. In case of major issues, they can only shelve or maintain the status quo, which increases the risk of uncontrollable business operations.
Feeling this, under the leadership of Shi Menghong, the company finally formally submitted a divisional application for the first time in 2014. In the same year, Shi Menghong, the second-generation person in charge, passed away, and his wife Wang Qinling, the eldest son Shi Kaiyan and his son Shi Jianzhou continued to work hard on the division.
On February 09, 2021, after the revision of Articles 4-3 of the detailed review rules for the automobile transportation industry, the company filed an application for division again. On February 7 of the following year, the General Administration of Highways of the Ministry of Communications finally sent a letter for approval. After 8 years and 3 applications, on August 1, 2022, the operation area of Dingdong Passenger Transport Mountain Line was officially renamed as “East Taiwan Passenger Transport”. The role of the transport mission in the eastern remote areas will also be inherited by the “East Taiwan Passenger Transport”.
