The largest Swiss online provider today is clearly Digitec Galaxus – a company that is almost entirely owned by Migros. But the price should be loud «Sunday view» whose employees pay. Namely those who are employed in logistics. As research by the newspaper shows, they should therefore feel exploited by the company.

Several employees at the logistics center in Wohlen AG report independently of one another that the demands on them are constantly increasing. In some cases, the working conditions had even become unacceptable. An example: Employees in incoming goods are supposed to scan up to 205 items per hour today, whereas it was only 70 in the beginning.

“Every few days someone falls over”

A company paramedic interviewed by “SonntagsBlick” is said to have reported that employees fall over from exhaustion during shifts. This is especially true in the packaging department in the summer, because it gets very warm and physical exertion is at its highest. The company paramedic is quoted as saying that someone should fall over “every few days”.

At the request of the newspaper, Digitec Galaxus does not deny the incidents. In the last two years, around 30 documented cases of nausea, circulatory or blood pressure problems, in which a company paramedic was on duty, are said to have been registered at the logistics center in Wohlen AG. The cases increased in July. The cases are taken seriously, but the company emphasizes that the number of cases in recent years has been low for a logistics company.

“SonntagsBlick” cites other company practices, where around six instead of five working days are regularly required – and this is only announced at short notice. Especially in the case of employees with minus hours, the private life then suffers because they have to step in. Absences are also checked rigorously, so you even have to sign out if you want to use the toilet.
