Acer has gotten creative in combining work with exercise and has created an exercise bike to power your laptop

CES is to see everything: new processors, big monitorstechnologies never seen before and yes, bikes with desks.

Acer has introduced the eKinect BD 3 that combines exercise with work and the concept has taken it to a new level. Not only does it have a built-in desk to place a laptop, but it will use the energy generated from pedaling to power a laptop and other devices. The goal, says Acer, is to find a creative way for professionals combat the sedentary lifestyle.

Acer uploaded a small demonstration of how the exercise bike works on its YouTube channel:

How much energy for my pedaling?

According to Acer, one hour of pedaling at 60 revolutions per minute would generate up to 75 watts, clean energy that could be used for any device. For connections, the Ekinekt BD 3 has three USB ports, two type A and one type C.

The bike has two modes: one for work and one for sport. The difference is that the mode sport allows the table on which the laptop is placed to be moved away, so that the user can lean to pedal. The handhold is still level with the tray and, judging from the video, it seems that pedaling causes the tray to move slightly due to the support of the arms. In work mode the tray is brought closer and the user can be fully upright.

After a work-training session, an application from Acer and the Ekinekt BD 3 help to quickly know how many kilometers were traveled, how many calories were burned, what was the average speed and, of course, how much energy was generated.

The Ekinekt BD 3 will be available in the United States from June priced at $999. Acer says that the exact specifications could still vary from region to region.
