Acosta and Nwobodo contribute goals; Cincinnati comes back to beat Red Bulls 2-1

Argentina’s Luciano Acosta converted a late penalty and Obina Nwobodo scored in stoppage time as Cincinnati beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Saturday to retain their lead in the MLS Eastern Conference.

Omir Fernández scored from a penalty following 28 minutes and the Red Bulls went into the break with the slightest advantage. It was Fernández’s third goal of the campaign.

Acosta responded with his goal from 11 steps in the 80th minute to equalize the score. Obinna achieved his second goal of the season, at the third minute of discount.

Acosta’s goal allowed him to reach 11 this season, the third most in the league.

Cincinnati has lost just one of its last nine games. Thus, he reached 48 points, with which he leads his conference and the MLS.

For its part, the New York team stayed at 26 units and is eleventh.
