Açotubo Group forecasts 10% growth in investments in 2023

The Açotubo Group, specialized in the distribution of steel and steel products in Brazil and Latin America, increased its investment forecast for 2023 by 10% compared to the contribution made this year. The group plans to invest BRL 35 million to promote the industrial, logistics, IT and quality areas, in line with the recent achievement of ISO 14001 certification.

The planned investments will be primarily allocated to the industrial area, which should receive 77% of the contribution, with emphasis on the expansion of another 6 thousand meters in the plant in the Solutions area, located at the company’s headquarters, in Guarulhos (SP). The expansion more than doubles the current area of 5,000 meters. R$ 27 million are also planned for new equipment, such as plate lasers, presses, sanders and welding robots.

“In 2023 we are going to renew 40% of our own fleet, aiming to meet pollutant emission standards, reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 80% and particulate matter emissions by 50%”, says Rubens Ortolani, director of Distribution and Logistics Division of the Açotubo Group. “This renovation is in line with our most recent ISO 14001 certification, reinforcing our commitment to environmental issues.”

This year’s investments included the renovation of 80% of the cutting plant, totaling R$ 1,700,000 in cutting machine, expander and machining center by Incotep, a company of the Açotubo Group that operates in the development of prestressing and anchoring systems.

Another outstanding investment was the implementation of the new ERP (integrated management system) that will integrate the entire production, sales and logistics of the group, increasing productivity, in addition to creating a withdrawal schedule on-line and an area dedicated to cargo logistics operations, enabling the release of drivers at the time of weighing, optimizing time for customers. The group’s concern with information security also led to the adoption of an EDR solution, aimed at protecting the IT infrastructure in general.

With regard to hiring, Açotubo increased its staff with around 40 new positions, surpassing the 2021 staff, and has been training its employees with professional courses, personal development and internal campaigns. In the field of social responsibility, the Group focused on projects related to sport (Projeto Sonhar Alto – Cumbica), education and the eradication of hunger (Amigos do Bem), actively participating in the Campaign for Clothing, Easter Solidarity and SOS Petrópolis.

Latin America

The Group has achieved positive results at its industrial plants in Latin America, despite market instabilities. In Colombia, the company achieved a 40% increase in revenue.

”Our expansion work in Latin America is ongoing, with excellent results and excellent prospects for the future. We are aware of the challenges we will face, such as crises and government changes, but in the last five decades we have acquired knowledge and strength to fully serve our customers and partners”, believes Fernando Del Roy, director of the industrial division of Grupo Açotubo in Latin America.
