ACS signs an agreement with a Senegalese group to distribute its products in West Africa

ALGIERS- The Holding Algerian Chemical Specialties (ACS) signed, Wednesday in Algiers, a partnership agreement with the Senegalese group “Procurment Management Consulting Engineerig” (PMCE) with a view to marketing its products in Senegal and its neighboring countries.

The agreement was signed by the CEO of ACS, Samir Yahiaoui and the CEO of the Senegalese group, Babacar Dieye, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, the president of the National Union of Entrepreneurs Public (UNEP), Charaf-Eddine Amara, as well as the ambassador of Senegal to Algeria, Serigne Dieye.

Under this agreement, PMCE Group will distribute products of ACS Holding branches, such as glass, abrasive materials, rubber, plastic, medical equipment, personal hygiene products, paint and varnish to Senegal, and in several neighboring countries, such as Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Mali and Benin, according to explanations provided during the signing ceremony.

The agreement also provides for the creation of production units for certain products such as paint and detergents in Senegal, by the end of 2024, in partnership with one of the group’s branches (PMCE).

In his speech on this occasion, Mr. Yahiaoui underlined the importance of this agreement which will allow the various products of ACS branches to access African markets, which will strengthen Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon imports next year.

He added that the signing comes following the strong demand recorded for the national company’s products during permanent exhibitions organized in Senegal and Mauritania, which opened the way to potential partnerships for regular marketing. .

For his part, Mr. Dieye indicated that this agreement comes within the framework of promoting cooperation relations between Algeria and Senegal and strengthening bilateral trade, adding that “the agreement does not only concern the implementation place of mechanisms for the establishment of profitable commercial relations with the Algerian side, as much as it tends to bring added value”.

The President of UNEP considered that this partnership constituted a good model for Algerian companies in general and public companies in particular, affirming the export capacities of the public sector and its ability to invest in international markets and create international added value. .

The said convention reflects the desire of national companies to assert the role of Algeria in Africa, in addition to consecrating its African belonging, he continued, recalling the opening of two Algerian banks in Mauritania and Senegal, likely to facilitate trade with the two countries and encourage national operators to go there.

The Senegalese ambassador to Algiers, for his part, underlined the need to intensify this type of partnership to achieve economic complementarity between Algeria and Senegal, in application of the guidelines of the leaders of the two countries.
