South Jakarta Metro Police stipulate Pierre Gruno as a suspect in the beating and abuse case of a man named Giri D Budisetiawan. The incident took place in a bar and has strong evidence.
The soap opera actor whose full name is Pierre Andreas Sadaq Hamid seemed to smile when he was released by the South Jakarta Metro Police yesterday. He appeared to be wearing an orange prison suit, his hands were cuffed, and he gave two thumbs up.
According to Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Irwandhy Idrus, Pierre Gruno is currently being detained for the next 20 days. After being released, he was again put into custody.
The soap opera actor abused the victim because he was offended by Giri’s gesture and was even more offended because the victim did not return his greeting.
“The victim at the scene met the suspect PG. During the meeting there was an interaction between the victim and the suspect. At that time, as we have said, there was a gesture from the victim which the suspect considered not good, thus triggering anger from the suspect,” he said.
“The actions taken by the suspect at that time pushed the victim and then used the victim’s hand, hitting the victim once in the face, so that the victim fell to the floor and then continued the abuse again when the victim had fallen on the floor,” he continued.
After reporting, the police examined the witness until the evidence from the CCTV at the location.
“After we analyzed the CCTV and the witness statements at the crime scene there were agreements, we are sure that there was a criminal act and as of yesterday we have named him a suspect,” said Irwandi.
At the time of the incident, the actor was also known to be under the influence of liquor but not drunk. Pierre Gruno is also said to be sorry and ready to apologize to the victim.
Pierre Gruno was charged with Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution in that case. Pierre Gruno faces up to 5 years in prison in this case.
