Actress Cher was accused of hiring four men to kidnap her son
Judicial documents accused American artist Cher of hiring four men to forcefully remove her son, Elijah Blue Allman, from his hotel in New York on the night of his wedding anniversary to his ex-wife.
The charges were contained in a court statement signed by Allman’s wife, Mary Angela King, on December 4, in Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to art magazine Variety, the charges were recently announced as part of the couple’s ongoing divorce case, which Alman filed in November 2021, a year before the possible kidnapping.
In the documents, King claims that she and Allman committed to working on their marriage, after Cher asked her to leave the family home.
Allman and King allegedly spent 12 days alone together in New York, ahead of their wedding anniversary on November 30, the date the kidnapping is said to have occurred.
“After spending these 12 days together in New York, four people came to our hotel room and took Alman out of our room,” King alleges, adding that “one of the four men who took him told her they had been hired by Allman’s mother.”
“I am not currently aware of my husband’s condition or whereabouts,” King wrote in December. “I am very worried about him.”
She added: “Since August 2022, I have been told that I am not allowed to see or speak to Alman, who is currently in a treatment facility that he did not disclose to me. I was also told that he does not have access to his phone.”
King’s ad ends by saying, “I understand his family’s efforts to make sure he’s okay, and I want the best for my husband.”
Allman has openly discussed his problems with addiction, saying that he was just a teenager when he became involved in heavy drug use. Since early 2010, Allman has been in and out of recovery periods, during which his relationship with Cher has fluctuated.
The pop singer has openly addressed her family’s struggle with drug abuse, which dates back to her father’s heroin use. Allman’s father, Greg Allman, also battled drug addiction.
