“Hi everyone, it’s not a TikTok, but a sick Tok,” says Kate Micucci in a video shot from her hospital room and posted on Tik Tok. Via the latter, the American actress, notably known for having played Lucy, Raj’s ultra-shy partner, in three seasons of the series The Big Bang Theory, announces that she has “lung cancer” for which she has “underwent an operation” the day before. “It’s really weird because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. It was a surprise, but I guess that happens too…” she continues.
The 43-year-old actress and comedian, however, reassures her fans: the cancer was “detected quite early” and it was “removed” during the surgical procedure. “I’m okay, but it’s been a bit of a long journey and it’s likely to be slow going for a few weeks. Then I’ll be back,” she says, before adding that she “can’t wait to paint once more.” “I must say that the works of art here are very beautiful,” says the actress as she walks around the hospital corridors with her IV in hand.
