Adana Demirspor Hit with 3-Point Deduction as Turkish Football Federation Announces Club Licensing Decisions
In a significant development for Turkish football, the club licensing process for the 2024-25 season has been finalized, with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announcing a range of decisions impacting clubs across various leagues.
Three-Point Penalty for Adana Demirspor
One of the most impactful decisions saw Trendyol Super League side Adana Demirspor penalized with a three-point deduction. This penalty comes as a result of the club’s failure to meet certain licensing criteria within the stipulated timeframe. The deduction drops Adana Demirspor to -1 point in the standings from their previous two points.
National Licenses Granted to 45 Clubs
The TFF CLUB Licensing Board carefully evaluated applications from clubs in the top three leagues – the Trendyol Super League, Trendyol 1. League, and Nesine 2. League – under the National Club Licensing System. This comprehensive evaluation encompassed several key areas, including sports and football aspects, social responsibility initiatives, infrastructure, personnel and administration, legal compliance, and financial stability.
As a result of this rigorous process, 45 clubs across these leagues have been granted national licenses, signifying their adherence to the required standards.
UEFA Licenses Awarded to Top Clubs
Eleven clubs from the top three leagues have achieved the prestigious UEFA licenses, qualifying them for participation in European competitions. Three clubs in the Turkcell Women’s Football Super League have also been granted UEFA licenses.
Restructuring Applications Granted More Time
Recognizing the complexities faced by certain clubs navigating financial challenges, the Licensing Board has extended a 13-day grace period for clubs seeking restructuring. Onvo Antalyaspor, TÜMOSAN Konyaspor, and Bellona Kayserispor from the Trendyol Super League, along with Artı Değer Vanspor, Serik Belediyespor, and İnegölspor from the Nesine 2. League, have been granted this extension. These clubs have applied for restructuring related to their Social Security Institution (SSI) and tax debts. The deadline for submitting documentation confirming the acceptance of their restructuring plans has been set for December.

## Adana Demirspor Hit with 3-Point Deduction: An Interview
**Host:** Joining us today to discuss the recent TFF club licensing decisions is football analyst, Alex Reed. Welcome to the show.
**Alex Reed:** Thank you for having me.
**Host:** The news coming out of the Turkish Football Federation is certainly making waves. One of the biggest stories is Adana Demirspor’s three-point deduction. Can you tell us more about this?
**Alex Reed:** Absolutely. This decision stems from Adana Demirspor’s failure to meet certain licensing criteria within the given deadlines. These criteria are quite comprehensive, covering everything from financial stability to infrastructure and legal compliance. While the TFF doesn’t specify exactly which criteria Adana Demirspor fell short on, the three-point deduction clearly sends a strong message about the seriousness of these requirements. **Host:** This drop puts Adana Demirspor in a precarious position, with -1 point in the standings currently. What impact do you expect this to have on their season?
**Alex Reed:** It’s a significant blow, no doubt. Every point counts in the Super Lig, and starting the season with a negative goal difference makes their climb up the table even steeper. It adds immense pressure on the team.
**Host:** The TFF also granted national licenses to 45 clubs and UEFA licenses to eleven clubs. This licensing process appears to be quite extensive. What’s the overall aim of this system?
**Alex Reed:** You’re right, it’s a rigorous process designed to ensure the long-term stability and success of Turkish football. By setting these standards for infrastructure, financial management, youth development, and other areas, the TFF aims to elevate the overall quality of the leagues and create a more sustainable and competitive environment for clubs.
**Host:** Thank you for shedding light on these important developments, Alex Reed.
**Alex Reed:** My pleasure.
