New nights of closure are scheduled as part of the rehabilitation of the Hyon tunnel, near Mons, announced Monday the Complementary Financing Company for Infrastructure (Sofico).
The tunnel will be completely closed to traffic throughout the month of September from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., except on weekends. “Depending on the progress of the first two weeks, the nights of Sunday September 17 to Monday September 18 and Sunday September 24 to Monday September 25 could also be used,” added Sofico. Motorists will therefore be diverted to Boulevard Dolez and Avenue des Guérites to return to ring R50.
In addition, other R50 tunnels will have to close at night as well. The Hyon and Orban tunnels will be closed from Monday August 28 to Tuesday August 29 and from Tuesday August 29 to Wednesday August 30. The Flanders tunnel will not be accessible from Wednesday August 30 to Thursday August 31 and from Thursday August 31 to Friday September 1. Finally, the Porte du Parc tunnel will be closed from Friday 1 September to Saturday 2 September.
