As the Spring Festival approaches, my country is about to usher in a large-scale population flow between urban and rural areas, and the prevention and control of the epidemic in rural areas has attracted the attention of all parties. Recently, the “Program for Strengthening the Prevention and Control of Novel Coronavirus Infection in Rural Areas” (hereinafter referred to as the “Program”) was issued, providing scientific guidance for rural areas to deal with the challenges of epidemic prevention and control brought about by the flow of people at the end of the year and the beginning of the year.
As the epidemic situation changes, many people plan to go home for the New Year, and the peak situation of returning home from the city may appear. Rural areas have a vast territory, a large and scattered population, and limited medical resources per capita. How to deal with various known and unknown risks has become a huge challenge at present.
Because of this, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council and the Central Rural Work Leading Group jointly issued a document on improving the grassroots epidemic prevention and control system, ensuring the supply of medical supplies in rural areas, improving the level of severe disease treatment, strengthening the protection of key rural populations, and promoting stable agricultural production in an overall manner. Targeted arrangements for supply guarantees and other matters are scientific deployments made according to the time and situation, and all localities should step up implementation in light of local realities.
To do a good job in the prevention and control of rural epidemics and to deal with potential risks and challenges, we should neither be overly panicked and self-confident, nor be paralyzed and take it lightly. At present, many rural areas have already experienced a round of virus infection. Some people think that everything will be fine if the sun passes. They have insufficient subjective estimates of possible emergencies and have a fluke mentality. This mentality will inevitably affect the work of rural epidemic prevention and control. Deployment makes it difficult for weak links to be effectively reinforced.
The prevention and control of rural epidemics must be done steadily and step by step. At present, our understanding of the new crown virus is still limited. Seizing the time window to make full preparations is an objective requirement for a scientific response to the epidemic. Only by adhering to the bottom-line thinking, carrying forward the responsibility spirit of “preferring to prepare for use, and not being available for use without preparation”, and fully implementing the requirements of the “Plan”, can we not be caught off guard when emergencies occur.
It is hoped that with the joint efforts of the whole society, all localities can make solid and orderly preparations for rural epidemic prevention, do their best to reduce the impact of the epidemic on the normal production and living order in rural areas, and make the year of reunion more joyful and peaceful.
