“My Life Is Worth protecting”: Mass Shooting Survivor Adnan Imsirovic Speaks Out on Lack of Support After Campus Risbergska Tragedy
Örebro, Sweden – Four months after surviving the horrific mass shooting at Campus Risbergska in Örebro, Adnan Imsirovic, 32, is speaking out about the challenges he faces in the aftermath of the tragedy. Imsirovic, a caretaker at the school, was shot in both arms during the attack and has undergone seven surgeries. “I came to Sweden to build a new life,” Imsirovic writes in a statement to aftonbladet. “I was proud to be working and contributing to society. But on February 4, 2025, everything changed.”
Struggling with pain and bureaucracy
Imsirovic’s physical wounds are compounded by the complexities of navigating the Swedish social support system. “After four months, I still have not received any real financial help,” he explains.
Insufficient Rehabilitation
Adding to his frustration, Imsirovic feels that his rehabilitation was cut short prematurely. “When I felt that I still needed support, I could not influence the decision that it would end,” he says.
He now finds himself struggling to navigate a complex system, unsure of who to turn to for help.
Questioning His Future in Sweden
Imsirovic’s experience has left him questioning his future in Sweden. He emphasizes the need for continued support for victims of violence, even after the initial media attention fades. “I also wont to feel that my life is worth protecting – even when the headings have disappeared,” he says.
