Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, warned of a new wave of Corona, stressing that Egypt has entered the sixth wave, and everyone must recommit to all precautionary measures again.

He said during a telephone interview with Youm7 TV, in the coverage prepared by Hoda Abu Bakr and presented by Germaine Shalaby, “The epidemic is still present, and the virus comes in waves, and we passed through 5 waves, and we stayed for a month or more, and there is a significant decrease in infections, but since a week or so.” 10 days and there is an increase in cases, and every day we monitor a larger number than the previous day, it may be a sixth wave, and this is expected in light of the epidemic and in the presence of space to move more freely between countries and some of them after lifting Corona restrictions.

And Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din continued, given that Egypt enters it from 500,000 to 600,000 per week, this means that we are in the sixth wave of Corona, noting that the cases of infection are from simple to moderate.

And about the symptoms of the infection and whether it differed from the previous periods, he said, “Omicron has a slight mutation, but most of the injuries are in the respiratory system, congestion of the throat, leaching, sneezing, and cracking of the body, with a few cases of loss of the senses of smell and taste.”

The advisor to the President of the Republic stressed the continuation of applying the precautionary measures and said, “We must continue to fully implement them. Yes, we stayed for more than a month without cases appearing, but we must take our precautions, because the epidemic exists globally and we have not reached the zero state in Egypt, and the new mutant is monitored.” It’s more aggressive and infects more people.”
