This work is a live-action adaptation of Natsuko Taniguchi’s popular comic, which won the 26th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize Shinsei Award. The troubled protagonist, Ichiro Aoyama (Suezawa), whose only characteristic is seriousness, tries out a “VR machine that allows you to see the past” invented by a friend, and discovers a past that makes him believe his beloved girlfriend Yuka Sasaki (played by Sekisui). I found out… This is a black romantic comedy that is about to take a sudden turn, where the main character’s “despair” and “reality” intersect.
When asked about his work, whether he would tell his loved ones about his secrets, Suezawa quickly answered, “I’ll keep it a secret. I’ll take it to my grave. It depends on the content (lol).” Sekisui also said, “It depends on the relationship with the other person. If it was necessary for work, I would tell my manager or something… (lol)”, adding, “For example, you don’t need to tell your lover that you were originally dating someone.” “I don’t think so. You shouldn’t say things that people will notice,” he said, and Suesawa nodded his head and said, “I agree.”
