AEONS OF ASHES – New video from the upcoming album

The St. Pölt metal institution AEONS OF ASHES is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a new album, the new video “The Night The Darkness Died” is now online, “The Wasteland Chronicles” will be released on September 23rd, 2023.

An album that wasn’t planned that way. AEONS OF ASHES have reoriented and found themselves several times over the course of their ten-year band history. The most significant cut took place in 2019, when they created their own storytelling universe, the post-apocalyptic parallel world wasteland2570. Hardly less surprising was the arrival of an additional vocalist in April 2023, who, as a complete newcomer, immediately convinced fans and the media with her growls and harsh vocals.

The music from AEONS OF ASHES only plays in wasteland2570 and takes up current developments and stories as much as possible. This fascinating aspect led to the plan to only release EPs from then on. But the inspiration and flow were so great that after the planned three EPs Initiation, Anticipation and Determination, three more songs were ready to be recorded. It was decided to release the EPs, three other tracks and nine interludes as “The Wasteland Chronicles”.

The interactive fantasy world wasteland2570

Since November 2019, the stage show and all songs from AEONS OF ASHES have been shaped by impressions from the transmedia fantasy universe wasteland2570. From their own light and fog show to (partly) video recordings to atmospheric ambient sounds and interludes (marked on the album as “Chapters”), the post-apocalyptic vibe shines through in every detail of the live performance. Shows no longer consist of individual songs, but form a fascinating, immersive overall experience. But the wasteland experience doesn’t end there. Fans of the band and creative nerds can discover the world themselves and embody their own characters in videos, blog entries or pen & paper role-playing adventures. Often with musical accompaniment or inspiration, since all of the band’s songs and videos have been set in the post-apocalyptic-fantastic parallel world full of magic and mystery components. 10 years of band history in 10 lines

At the beginning of 2013, the post-modern melodic death metal band was formed in St. Pölten from well-known names in the Austrian metal scene. The first live shows soon followed, including Dark Tranquility and Tristania. The debut album Shutdown and the first two videos were released in 2014. Over the next few years, numerous club shows and festival appearances in and around Austria followed – for example, they supported Paradise Lost and The Path of Freedom. The 6-track EP Impatience was released in 2017.

Since 2019, everything at AEONS OF ASHES has been focused on the self-created, interactive storytelling project wasteland2570. The EP Initiation was released in 2021. In 2022, guitarist f4v5t replaced founding member g8s and joined fellow Inner Circle members The GrandMaester, st0nes, d0ck3r and spr0ut. The EP Anticipation was released. In April 2023, 4LE4 completed the current line-up, and the EP Determination will be followed by the new album The Wasteland Chronicles in September 2023.
