Aeronautics and defense company Sabca victim of a cyber attack

The Belgian aeronautics and defense company Sabca was the victim of a major cyber-attack last week, forcing it to adopt a “degraded” mode of operation, we learned on Saturday.

The attack, however, would not have caused “major consequences” for the company and its customers, according to sources inside the company.

Contacted by Belga, the company’s spokesperson declined to comment. Sabca is one of the main Belgian companies active in the aerospace and defense sector. In addition to the production of various parts for civil and military aircraft, it also specializes in the updating of avionics systems and armaments for aircraft.

It also carries out the maintenance of many military planes and helicopters in particular. It also produces various parts for the Ariane and Vega space launchers. The company employs around a thousand workers, spread over several sites. To guard once morest new cyber-attacks, the company intends to strengthen its IT security in the future.
