Kuala Lumpur, May 25, WAM/ The draw for the qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Finals, scheduled for the Qatari capital, Doha 2024, resulted in the presence of our team in Group G, along with the teams of India, the Maldives and China, where the group matches will be played in China from September 4 to 12. next.
The 43 participating teams were distributed into 11 groups, each group containing four teams, with the exception of the last group, which includes three teams.
The qualifying competitions are held in a split-league system by gathering from one round, where the first-placed team in each group, along with the four best second-placed teams, qualifies for the finals, to join the host Qatar team.
The teams participating in the qualifiers were classified according to the results of the last edition of the tournament in 2022 in Uzbekistan, where the teams that did not participate in that tournament came at the lowest level.
With the participation of the Qatar national team in the qualifiers, the matches played by the Qatari national team are considered friendly, and will not be taken into account when determining the group ranking.
The qualifying matches are hosted by 11 countries, which are Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Jordan, South Korea, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam, as they were placed in the same pot at the start of the draw.
