AfD Surges to 19.5% in Latest Poll: What You Need to Know

The flight of the AfD continues!

The right-wing party climbs to 19.5 percent. Plus 0.5 percent to the previous week – and more than ever. This was the result of the new opinion trend of the INSA institute for BILD.

Particularly explosive: The AfD has currently not even exhausted its potential. Overall, 28.5 percent of Germans can imagine voting for the party classified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a suspected case of right-wing extremism.

While the AfD continues to rise, the Greens continue to lose favor with voters. The eco-party only comes to 13 percent, losing half a percentage point compared to the previous week.

The CDU/CSU remain by far the strongest party. The Union improves by half a percentage point (to 27 percent).

Meanwhile, the FDP loses a percentage point and falls to 8 percent. The left (4.5 percent) also lost half a percentage point and would thus fail at the five percent hurdle.

The traffic light only comes to 41 percent and clearly misses a parliamentary majority.

INSA boss Hermann Binkert to BILD: “The traffic light would currently be punished by voters. The opposition parties Union and AfD benefit from this. There can be no government without and against the CDU/CSU. The parliamentary survival of the left is in serious jeopardy.”
