Affordable Michelin-Starred Restaurants: Culinary Excellence at a Reasonable Price

2024-03-27 06:01:16

Who says starred chef does not necessarily mean exorbitant prices, we prove it to you with three starred restaurants that are as tasty as they are affordable.

Restaurants combining a long history with excellent cuisine are rare: maintaining consistent quality over the years is more difficult than it seems. In Braine-l’Alleud, Philippe Meyers is part of this restricted circle. The chef and his wife, Valérie Barbanson, are celebrating this year the two decades of their restaurant, crowned for nine years with a Michelin star.

The chef has acquired a reputation for his ability to combine land and sea in his dishes. With a tasting menu at 85 euros (four courses) or a lunch at 37 euros (two courses) and 45 euros (three courses), the pricing is very reasonable.

What will Floris Van Der Veken, Peter Goossens’ successor, do with the master’s legacy? Will he adopt his own style, so soon following the chef’s departure? During our visit, little seemed to have changed. Although Van Der Veken has not yet defined his own style, he puts the refined signature of the former three-star restaurant on almost every plate.
