The Federal Administration of Public Revenues (Afip) seized this Thursday in a feedlot of Villa María del Río Seco 1,700 tons of corn, valued at more than $91 million.

Agents from the agency led by Carlos Castagneto detected irregularities in the grain stock declared by the establishment, which was presumably going to be used for the production and marketing of beef in the marginal market.

The Afip staff carried out a face-to-face inspection in a firm dedicated to fattening cattle in the north of Cordoba.

The inspectors surveyed the stocks of raw materials stored in silos and verified that they were not declared in the Register of Grain Movements and Stocks, at the same time that they did not have their corresponding electronic consignment notes to support their entry into the plant.

As a result of these inconsistencies, the General Tax Directorate (DGI) proceeded to interdict 1,700 tons of corn, equivalent to the loading capacity of 57 trucks and with an estimated value of more than 91 million pesos.

In addition, the agency will apply sanctions and generate the corresponding tax adjustments, according to the national authority.

This past Wednesday, the Afip also seized 314 tons of grains valued at $25.5 million in route controls carried out in Santa Fe and Corrientes, in which irregularities were detected in the documentation of the carriers.
