African continent reports 2,101 monkeypox cases with 75 deaths

SOf the 2,101 cases of monkeypox that have been reported in the continent, 1,818 are suspected cases while 283 are confirmed cases, says Africa CDC, which is part of the African Union.

Africa CDC notes that 70 new cases of monkeypox were reported from three African countries in the past week (16 cases in Ghana, 16 confirmed cases and 37 suspected cases in Nigeria) and (one confirmed case in Liberia).

The case fatality rate of monkeypox in Africa currently stands at 3.6pc, adds Africa CDC.
