32 years have passed since the screening of the movie “Caboria”, which starred the late Ahmed Zaki, and was written by Essam Al-Shamaa, while the director was Khairy Bishara.
The film achieved great public success at the time of its presentation, and the late Zaki appeared in a very different haircut, resembling the international boxing star, Mike Tyson.
This hairstyle caused a crisis many years after the film was shown, as Zaki appeared in an old television interview while talking about the scenes of the film in the presence of its author, Essam Al-Shamaa, in a widely republished video clip.
At the time, Zaki mentioned that when he read the word “Tyson” in the script of the movie, the idea for a hairstyle came to him, so he immediately brought the razor and cut his hair without thinking.
This story was confirmed by the author Al-Shamaa, who stated that Zaki always adds to any work he is starring in, and at that time there were no features of the character, but the late, as soon as he read the name in the script, was inspired by the idea.
But the surprise, which came more than 30 years later, is director Khairy Bishara’s denial of what the duo mentioned during the television interview, where he wrote through his account on “Facebook”, saying: “Both of them lie… and tremendous success always comes with lies and promotes them.”
Bishara continued telling the story about choosing Ahmed Zaki’s appearance, noting that after the previews of the film in the popular squares, he put the pictures on the table for food in his home in the Shubra area.
And when he compared the pictures to each other, he found that most, if not all, of the simple, popular boxers had their hair shaved off in the style of the famous Tyson story.
Bishara decided that Zaki’s hair should be shaved, but the latter strongly objected and refused, and Bishara had to bring a barber one day before filming, and told him that shaving hair was necessary for filming the movie.
Zaki disappeared for some time and then returned to appear with the haircut for the role and is happy with the body that the director chose for the character.
Bishara expressed his surprise at how the author of the work went along with Zaki’s fantasies during their appearance on the television interview, calling on everyone not to promote lies.
